Swatting?
I don't watch TV much. gave it up around 2008 or so, once nobody went after the Bankers and AIG and all the other Insurance Companies for mucking everything up. With a sick cat, we are a bit more glued to the living room these days, and the TV turns on sometimes.
Recently it found it's way to a Netflix Series about this kid who was calling in Bomb Threats and Swatting fellow gamers.
Have you heard about that?
One of the most shocking parts of it was the level to which he was bragging about it on several anonymous accounts on twitter.
While I would NOT expect twitters algorithms to have been setup to detect bragging about bomb threats or swatting jobs, I find it pretty damn hard to believe that not one person who might ahve seen or engaged with those tweets didn't report them to someone at twitter or elsewhere?
If ever there would have been a situation that one would have expected the FBI to have hopped on, that sure seems like it qualifies.
The sheer volume of calls he made and the various states he affected would have risen to FBI jurisdiction with ease, yes?
So where were they?
Why is the detective in the story left to tell us about his efforts to "figure out who was doing it".
Where was the FBI for these events?
Were any FBI agents working for Twitter back then?
Was Yoel or anyone else at Twitter ever made aware of the bragger on their platform?
I don't have access to Twitter history like others too. Hopefully some will check into this and comment about it one way or another.
Even if the swatting thing was never reported ( a bit unlikely but possible), HARD TO IMAGINE living in Wichita with 10x the cop involved shootings than the standard with no requirement for Wichita Police to name cops or discuss shootings? Gheez, they and the Maryland Bar need to get together for drinks....
